Charles L. McNary

Charles L. McNary (1874-1944) was an American politician who served as a U.S. Senator from Oregon from 1917 until his death in 1944. A member of the Republican Party, McNary was known for his advocacy on agricultural issues and his efforts to support farmers through federal legislation. He also played a significant role in shaping U.S. policy during the Great Depression and was a key proponent of the New Deal. McNary was the Republican vice-presidential candidate in the 1940 election, running alongside Wendell Willkie, but they were defeated by Franklin D. Roosevelt and his running mate, Henry A. Wallace
