BiographyPreston Duwyenie is a Hopi potter born on September 6, 1951 in Hotevilla, Arizona. He studied pottery and ceramics at IAIA under the guidance of Otellie Loloma and Ralph Pardington and later at CSU under Ken Hendrey and Richard Devore. He started making pottery in 1979. He moved to Santa Clara Pueblos with his wife, Sarah Duwyenie. He is known for micaceous clay white, orange and blackware seed jars, high shoulder jars, storage jars, plates, bowls, and the occasional inlay of sterling medallions. His earlier works were more black and red on yellow, orange and redware seed jars and bowls.
