DescriptionThe first circular white metal button features an ink image of a woman within a bordered-circle. wearing a detailed fabric in her hair. The top portion of the button reads "Senoritas de Albuquerque" in black lettering, translating to "Ladies of Albuquerque". The bottom portion reads "Cosmetic Permit" in the same lettering. In commemoration for Albuquerque's 250th anniversary, makeup and accessories including lipstick, rouge, mascara, nail polish, perfume, jewelry, and acted as prohibited items to be worn in public by women until July 14th, unless they obtained this cosmetic permit out of acknowledgement to their pioneers of yore, recognizing the centuries of social development within Albuquerque.On View
