DescriptionA herd of bighorn sheep stand in a snow-covered mountainous and forested area in the Sandia Mountains, east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. A label on back of the photograph reads, "Bighorn sheep were planted in the Sandia Mountain of the Cibola national Forest by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish in 1939 and 1941. This band of six has grown steadily to a point where limited hunting under special permit is possible. Keen-eyed visitors to Sandia Crest are often able to see and photograph bighorns, particularly during early morning hours."On View
