DescriptionThis blue and white lithograph-printed button reads "Albuquerque" in blue lettering on the top portion of the button. Below this a blue image of a Wien Air Alaska plane is pictured in the center. There are translucent blue clouds also visible in the white background, and the phrase "Get into / the Blue!" is read in blue lettering underneath the image which is accompanied by the Wien Air Alaska logo on the bottom portion of the button simply reading "Wien" in bold blue lettering. Referring to the expansion of Wien Air Alaska's new jet service into the lower forty-eight states including New Mexico, focusing specifically on the city of Albuquerque. Taking place on March 2nd, 1984 until May 31st, 1984, after only almost three months since its implementation. Despite it's short-lived service to the city, it contributed significantly to the expansion of regional connectivity as it provided connection from New Mexico to major cities such as Oakland, Seattle, and Portland, characterizing a time period where global travel was becoming increasingly accessible for smaller cities like Albuquerque, ultimately highlighting the developing landscape of air travel within the state. On View
