DescriptionOne of a pair of graduated, single-strand necklaces of silver, turquoise, and linen cord. Santo Domingo (Kewa) artists Chris and Ely Montoya collaborated on this pair of corn necklaces, made of turquoise beads intended to resemble corn kernels. A potent cultural symbol spanning millennia, corn kernels (like turquoise itself) evoke connections to the landscape, feasting traditions, and the creation stories of the many distinct pueblos and nations defining the Southwest.
