DescriptionA single-strand necklace of coral, turquoise, and cotton wrap. Santo Domingo artist Ray Lovato is widely recognized for his natural turquoise necklaces and jaclas, which he began making at the age of eleven after learning from his parents, Ike and Tonita Lovato. Best known for his corn necklaces, this example features only three small groupings of three turquoise “tabs” each, with hand-carved coral beads separating them and wrapped at the top with cotton. A “signature bead” of turquoise is appended.
