DescriptionThis vertically oriented badge commemorates the inauguration of William C. McDonald, the first governor of the State of New Mexico, in 1912. The badge consists of three distinct elements: a decorative metal nameplate, a tricolor silk ribbon, and a round celluloid button. The top of the badge features an ornate silver-toned metal bar with a cream-colored insert bearing the words "MUSIC COMMITTEE" in bold black lettering, indicating the wearer’s role in the event’s musical proceedings. A red, white, and blue silk ribbon extends downward, representing the colors of both the United States and New Mexico. Attached to the ribbon is a round celluloid button printed in sepia tones. The button features the official seal of the State of New Mexico at its center, encircled by the words "Inauguration W.C. McDonald and First State Governor." The year 1912 is prominently displayed, marking the momentous occasion when New Mexico transitioned from a U.S. territory to the 47th state in the Union. On View
