DescriptionThis image depicts the exterior of St. Joseph's Sanatorium at 715 East Grand Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico. East Grand Avenue is now Dr Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. The sanatorium consists of a number of large buildings. Several of these buildings can be seen in the background. The foreground is taken up by a large grass field with sprinklers dotted around it. Several large trees have been planted near and around the buildings. The building on the far-left side of the frame is three stories tall, is lined with a veranda on each floor, and is made of a light-colored material. The building to the right is two stories tall, is made of a light-colored material, and is lined with windows on each floor. Three buildings are visible on the right side of the frame. The two buildings in front are single story patient rooms with peaked roofs and windows lining their exteriors. Only the peaked roof of the larger building behind these is visible. In the background a large brick smokestack and a water tower are visible. On View
