DescriptionThis image depicts an exterior, high angle shot of St. Joseph's Sanatorium at 715 East Grand Avenue in Albuquerque, New Mexico. East Grand Avenue is now Dr Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. The building is made of a light-colored rock and is three stories tall. A brick staircase leads from the ground up to the balcony area on the second floor. To the right of the building is a large brick smokestack. The top of the smokestack is much darker in color than the lower portions. To the left of the building is a water tower. The large water basin sits on a brick tower. A door near the top of the tower has a metal staircase that leads up to the basin. In front of the building, in the foreground, is a driveway looping around a grassy area. In the center of the grass is a stone water fountain. Two large trees and a single large bush have been planted on the left side of the grassy area. Several large trees can be seen on either side of the sanitorium.
