DescriptionA street view of Gold Avenue looking west from First Street in New Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are two figures in gowns holding open umbrellas above their heads, walking on the left sidewalk. In the distance, crossing the dirt road, are figures walking and in carts pulled by horses. Electric poles and wires line both sides of Gold Avenue. On the left side of Gold Avenue, is a two-story brick storefront with "...BRUSHES & C... ARTISTS..." Also, on the right is Wells Fargo Bank (the short building behind the brick store front). To the Right, is another two-story brick storefront (113 W. Gold Avenue) with, "OFFICE DAILY CITIZEN," on its side.New Town was one of the first Anglo settlements on Tiwa land in what is now Albuquerque, established about two miles east of Albuquerque's first Hispanic city center (contemporary Old Town). New Town spanned the railyards district and a few blocks west in Albuquerque's downtown.
Scratches and deterioration in the emulsion is causing image loss and color distortion.
