DescriptionThe starting line of a foot race at the Territorial Fair, in Albuquerque, New Mexico before statehood. A large group of Volunteer Firefighters stand in formation, connected by ropes around their waists with a large two wheeled cart attached at the rear. They stand on a dirt track and pose in a waiting position. They wear cleats on their feet, some wear caps, tight fitting short sleeved shirts, knickerbockers without socks or long tight fabric pants. The fairgrounds can be seen behind them.

Silver mirroring and emulsion deterioration is occurring on the glass plate creating color distortion and emulsion loss.
