DescriptionThe starting line of a foot race at the Territorial Fair, in Albuquerque, New Mexico before statehood. A large group of Volunteer Firefighters stand in formation, connected by ropes around their waists with a large two wheeled cart attached at the rear. They stand on a dirt track and pose in a waiting position. They wear cleats on their feet, some wear caps, tight fitting short sleeved shirts, knickerbockers without socks or long tight fabric pants.
