DescriptionA posed photograph of the Navajo Drill Team of the White Shrine of Jerusalem (part of the Masons) gathered in a gymnasium. The group was a non-Indigenous women's club (ca. 1952-1968) in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The twenty-two women are dressed in dark wigs and wear costumes resembling Diné dress. Some have strips painted on their checks, others with feathers, headbands, and all wear large jewelry. A large drum rests on the ground on its side in front of the group. The members standing in the back hold a fabric banner with a Diné symbol between their name: Navajo Drill Team Albuquerque White Shrine of Jerusalem New Mexico. The group includes Kath Limbaugh who is kneeling second from the right.
