DescriptionA studio portrait of a woman and man balancing a dog between their shoulders in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All three are in costume for a performance. Both people and the dog are posed facing the left frame of the photograph. The woman stands with her hands on her hips, her head turned and she is smiling directly at the camera. She is wearing a dark, full skirt to her mid-thigh and has three parallel shining bands of fabric sewn around the bottom. Her dark top is long-sleeved with an opaque bodice and mesh sleeves. The man stands about one foot behind the woman and his head is turned only slightly toward the camera. He is wearing high-waisted dark pants and a white long sleeved shirt. His arms are crossed over his chest. Balanced on the shoulders of the two people is a light-colored short-haired dog (possibly a Shepherd). Its hind legs rest on the man's shoulders and his front on the woman's shoulders. The dog is facing forward, but its snout is somewhat obscured in a shadow. Its ears are pinned back and its tail is fully relaxed. It is wearing a shiny fabric harness across its chest and shoulders in the same material as the embellishment on the woman’s skirt.
