DescriptionThis is a typewriter stand produced by Remington Rand, a typewriter manufacturer originally formed in 1927 after the merger of the Remington Typewriter Company and the Rand Kardex Corporation. The conglomerate had a challenging beginning, facing worker strikes that led to violence and job losses. The typewriter stand features a simple metal frame with four legs, each fitted with a wheel. The tabletop rests directly on the metal frame, with two additional surfaces that fold out from either side. When not in use, these extra surfaces hang neatly along the sides of the frame. This object offers an interesting glimpse into office supplies of the past and the companies that produced and relied on them.On View
