DescriptionThis library table was produced in 1890 and is constructed from wood with a prominent black leather inlay on the tabletop. Leather inlays were common in 19th-century furniture due to their durability and resistance to stains and scratches. The table includes a single drawer with two handles, each featuring a black bulb that hangs from a metal base. The metal bases are etched with three-leaf clover designs. Inside the drawer are approximately six compartments, separated by wooden dividers. Below the main tabletop is a large storage shelf. The table’s legs are turned with rounded forms and support both the top and lower surfaces. At the point where the legs meet the lower shelf, they extend outward from the center of the table. The lower portion of the table is decorated with various carved patterns etched into the wood.
