DescriptionThis object is a pair of tonsillar hemostats used to isolate tonsillar tissue. One jaw contains a small, rectangular rubber plate, while the other holds a semi-spherical, serrated attachment. A locking ratchet operated by a small, circular thumb screw hangs off the edge of the object on one side just before the hinge. Behind the hinge, two handle bases protrude from the hinge, but the handles themselves are missing. Moderate to heavy levels of rust and corrosion are present on the handle bases and around the hinges.
