DescriptionThis medical probe is comprised of a long, cylindrical rod of bronze with a pointed tip at one end and a flattened ring on the opposite end. This probe was likely used to manipulate tissue during surgical procedures with the pointed end, and stir tinctures and medicines with the ringed end. The pointed end could also be utilized to take internal measurements during medical operations. The object is coated in a dark patina.
