DescriptionThis object is a square-framed washboard. A flat section of wood is located above the metal ridges, with "National Washboard Co. No. 802 / TRADE MARKS REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. MADE IN U.S.A. / MEMPHIS, CHICAGO, SAGINAW" on the back and "THE BRASS KING / TOP NOTCH / SANITARY FRONT DRAIN / THE BOARD WILL DO THE WORK" painted on the front. The front end of the object has a wooden beam above the washboard with three equally-spaced notches. Six metal nails are visible on the reverse side of the object's frame. The reverse side of the washboard is held in place with five cylindrical wooden spokes. Object sits on two wooden legs protruding from the bottom of the board which were used to position the object in a laundry basin or tub.
