DescriptionThe Joseph T. Johnson Furniture Company located between 317 and 319 South Second Street in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The top of the building has a large sign that reads, "A.O.U.W. AND I.O.O.F. HALL." A horse-drawn cart with four wooden wheels is parked in front of the furniture company with "FURNITURE." painted on the side. The business is housed in a two-story building with an ornately decorated face. The ground floor has storefront windows obscured in shadow from a large canopy above. A sign above the window reads, "Furniture," while the canopy reads, "JOS. T. JOHNSTON TENTS & AWNINGS." Two men stand with a large mattress propped up under the awning, are partly covered in shadow. To the right, under the shade of tall trees is another parked horse-drawn cart with wooden wheels. The wagon reads, "BUILD," on the side. In the wagon sits a large dark dog, a stack of large wooden frames, and a man in a slack suit and bowler hat stands behind it. Also, under the trees standing outside the next shop are two men in suspenders, button-downs, straw boaters, and have mustaches. The BUILD wagon was owned by Ed Edler, a local builder and contractor.Silver mirroring and emulsion deterioration is occurring on the glass plate creating color distortion and emulsion loss in the image.
