DescriptionThis white button features a bold blue text reading "Albuquerque Figure Skating Club" contouring the circular shape of the button. Below this a blue image of two people holding hands while ice skating is pictured. The bottom portion of the button reads "Member" in the same bold blue lettering. Founded in 1948, members would pay a monthly fee to practice at the IceLand arena but had to switch to the Lawrence Ice Skating Studio after the IceLand arena burned down in 1953. Despite drawbacks, the club remained intact and with a significant number of members, highlighting its importance in promoting ice sports through organized education, ultimately developing a figure skating community in New Mexico in which the club is still active over seventy-five years later. On View
