1860 New York – 1909 Albuquerque, New Mexico
BiographyWilliam Cobb was born in New York and later worked with the Atlantic & Pacific Railroad as a surveyor. The southwestern climate suited his health because he suffered from tuberculosis. After living in Arizona for some years, he moved to Albuquerque and bought W. Calvin Brown’s photography studio in 1889 and renamed it Cobb Studio. He married Eddie Ross, the daughter of New Mexico’s former territorial governor, in 1891. They co-owned and ran Cobb Studio together until he died in 1909. Eddie continued running the business independently after his death with the assistance of their children. Eddie and William had four children, Edmund, Susan, Daphne, and Wilfred.
