Artist Info
Cobb Studio

William Cobb opened his studio in New Town Albuquerque around 1890 and, when he married Eddie Ross, she closed her photography studio called Ross Studio, and joined her husband in the running of Cobb Studio. William Cobb suffered from tuberculosis and died in 1909 leaving Eddie to run the studio for the next three decades. The Cobbs had four children and two of them became keen photographers, a daughter named Daphne and a son named Wilfred. Wilfred joined the Navy and became a photographer in the military, and Eddie seemed to hold hopes that Daphne would take on the management of Cobb Studio. Daphne became involved in the everyday business of the studio, eventually holding the title “Master Photo Finisher”. Tragically, Daphne died at the age of 29, and Eddie Cobb retained ownership of the studio until its closure in 1942.
