BiographyFrans Hogenberg was a Flemish and German painter, engraver, and mapmaker who worked with Georg Braun to produce The Civitates Orbis Terrarum printed in 1572 and reprinted in 1612, also known as the 'Braun & Hogenberg', a six-volume town atlas. In 1568 he was banned from Antwerp by the Duke of Alva and traveled to London, where he stayed a few years before emigrating to Cologne.
