Carel Allard1648 Amsterdam, The Netherlands - 1709 Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Carel (Carol) Allard (Allardt) was an engraver, publisher, and art dealer based in Amsterdam. Part of a prominent family of Dutch mapmakers and print sellers, his father was Hugo Allard (1627–1684), and upon his death left his business to Carel. He published a range of paper products including maps, topography, ethnography, newsprints, and prints, many of which likely came from his father’s notes. In 1706, Carel gave his copperplates to his son Abraham, before going bankrupt.
