BiographyThe Kennedy-Johnson Inaugural Committee planned and orchestrated all the details and events for the 1961 Inauguration. Serving on the committee were Sen. John J. Sparkman (D-AL), Sen. Carl T. Hayden (D-AZ), Sen. Styles Bridges (R-NH), Rep. Sam T. Rayburn (D-TX), Rep. John W. McCormack (D-MA), and Rep. Charles A. Halleck (R-IN). The Inaugural Committee was formed by the Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC), in accordance with the 20th Amendment of the United States Constitution. The JCCIC has been responsible for planning all presidential inaugurations since 1901.
