BiographyFounder and publisher of Magee’s Independent in 1922, which changed its name to New Mexico State Tribune in 1923, and again changed the name to Albuquerque Tribune in 1933. Magee lived in New Mexico until 1927, when he moved to Oklahoma after killing a bystander in a gunfight. In Oklahoma, he developed the first coin-operated parking meter.
