Berol is a former British stationery manufacturing company, based in Lichfield, England. The company was founded in 1856 by Daniel Berolzheimer as the Eagle Pencil Company with a pencil shop in New York City and a factory in Yonkers. IN 1894, the company extnded the business to England. The company changed it's name to Berol in 1969. In 1987 it was acquired by the Empire Pencil Coproration of Tennessee and in 1995 it was acquired by Sanford L.P., a division of Newell Brands, becoming a subsidiary of it until the last factory closed in 2010. The line continues as a brand name. Berol produced a wide range of writing implements and art materials including acrylics, pastels, oil pastels, inks, crayons, adhesives, pencils, colored pencils, pens, and markers, plus accessories.
