DescriptionThis matchbook was made to promote VIP's restaurant, which was a restaurant chain owned by The Big Boy restaurant franchise. The Big Boy francise started in 1936, and the first VIP restaurant opened in New Mexico around 1960. The booklet is mostly a pink color, with some white and brown details throughout. The front face of the booklet has the restaurant's logo, which is a brown circle with the name "Vip's" in white placed in side. Next to the name, there is an image of the restaurant's iconic mascot, which is a caricature of a 1950s chef holding a large hamburger. Under the image and logo, there is a line of text that reads, "Please Close Cover Before Striking." The manufacturing information can be found on the bottom fold of the booklet. On the back of the booklet, there is a checkerboard pattern that runs across the whole background. The restaurant logo is present in the center of the back panel. There is a white line that cuts horizontally across the back of the booklet, which houses a line of text. The text reads, "Home of the BIG BOY/America's Favorite Hambuger."
