DescriptionThis matchbook advertises the Alvarado Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The hotel was built in 1902 and was an iconic landmark of Albuquerques downtown, until its demolition in 1970. The outside of the booklet sports a base color of white, with a dark brown coating inside. The words "The Alvarado / Albuquerque, N.M." are legible on the front of the booklet. The name "Alvarado" is placed in a burnt orange color, as the surrounding text is only in black. The text sits beneath a gold crest, which sports five fleur-de-lis symbols that are arranged in a backwords L shape, filling most of the space. The top left corner of the emblem is the same white color as the base of the booklet, but with three burnt orange lines cutting across it. The strike strip is located near the bottom of the booklet, right above a small staple. The words "DIAMOND MATCH DIV" are written on the thin bottom of the booklet, along with "CHICAGO ILLINOIS."
