DescriptionFrazadas are typically created for personal use and their designs stand as intricate symbols with colors made from the natural world around them instead of synthetic dyes. This weaving may have been a workshop specialty. The large number of similar examples in museum and private collections suggests that they were made in a workshop environment, perhaps under the supervision of a master weaver. This specific frazada has brown edges and zig-zag designs on the border and in the center. Indigo diagonal designs interweave the brown.On View
