DescriptionThis is a decorative beer stein with embellishments and engravings. It is shaped like a vase which gets bigger in the middle and then curves into a small base. The stein also has a domed lid and a curved handle that is connected to the lid by a metal hinge with a thumb press on top. The handle is brown and has a decorative rope-style engraving on either side has well has small blue flowers down the outside. The thumb press is made of a silver metal and is curved with the image of a man in a large hat and collar engraved onto it. When pressed down the thumb press bends the hinge and opens the lid so the stein can be used. The rim of the lid is metal, and this continues up the outside curve of the dome. The lid is circular except for the front which juts out has a wide triangle. The center is grey with cream-colored embossments that look like ornate carvings of arches and flowers. In the very center is a red circle with a metal plant shaped like an oval sitting on the very top. The rim of the opening is cream colored, below it is the top border of the beer stein. This border has curved arches with blue diamonds and flowers on the side and within each arch respectively. Below this is a brown border with blue ovals and white embellishments on the inside, a blue line is also on top and below of this. The bulk of the stein is made up of colorful engraved images in the middle, above where the stein widens out. There are four images around the stein, each of a woman with brown hair in different poses in front of a yellow background. On the left side are two images. The image at the back shows the woman in loose clothing resembling that of 1600s attire, throwing seeds to birds with a pink-flowering plant beside her has she stands in a green field. The next image shows the woman in different clothes but of the same era holding a bundle of wheat and a sickle in one arm has she holds a red flower in the other. A patch of wheat stands next to her and she is in a field. On the right side of stein are also two images. The image next in line, or the one nearest to the front, shows the woman in the same era of clothing holding up a bundle of purple grapes in one hand while she carries a basket of grapes in the other arm in a field. The last image shows the woman in a blue dancing outfit, similar to that of a ballerina, has she holds a pink hand fan in front of her and a red and gold mask on a stick in her other hand. She stands on a brown wooden platform with a railing behind her and a red curtain next to her. A red border is on top of these images with grey decorations. A grey twisted column separates each depiction before ending in a grey border at the bottom. Underneath these images, on the widest part of the stein, is the same brown border with blue ovals has above and ornate white decorations. The ornate carvings alternate between depicting a bearded man with horns and a white flower in a decorative arch. Each carving is again separated by a column and all sit against a blue background. The very bottom of the stein is brown, and underneath is the marker's mark for Villeroy & Boch, has well has the product number 1951.On View
