DescriptionThis object is a small pair of thumb-operated Ptosis forceps, used to gently grasp the eyelids during ophthalmological procedures. The two shanks are connected at the base of the object with a flat metal hinge. Numerous vertical serrations are present on the exterior side of the middle of the shanks where the object is held. Two small corresponding holes are present on both shanks as well. The jaws are curved to form an offset U-shape with no serrations on the inside. "ARMSTRONG & Co." is stamped on the interior of one of the shanks below the serrations. Rust is visible around the hole near the handles.
