DescriptionThis object is a small pair of thumb-operated forceps used in the isolation and removal of chalazions or other small facial abscesses. The object has a flat hinge located towards its base where the two shanks are joined. The bottom half of the shanks have numerous horizontal serrations to offer better traction. A circular thumb screw is located above the serrations on one side, and is used to lock the forceps in position. The jaws are dissimilar, with one having a flat, circular appendage and the other having a ring that fits around the opposite jaw. Mild to moderate levels of corrosion are visible on the jaws, around the thumb screw, and within the grooves on the lower parts of the shanks.On View
