DescriptionThis object is a type of surgical suction tube used to drain bodily fluids during surgical operations. The body of the object consists of a hollow, cylindrical piece of metal with a gradual curve towards the tip. A ring handle is located on the side of the body near the base of the object. An extendable blunted tip with a lateral perforation is located at the tip of the object, and is connected to a thin wire that traverses the body of the object and is connected to the removable base. The base can be pushed or pulled relative to the body of the object in order to extend or retract the tip. Mild levels of rust are seen around the base.
