DescriptionThis Fortuna table sewing machine is constructed of painted metal with a floral pattern and inlaid mother-of-pearl. The sewing machine sits on a rectangular, wooden base which features a decorative inlay of squares, spanning left to right. The wooden base houses the device's foundational bed plate. Gold, ornamental flower, swirl, and leaf motifs are scattered throughout the whole of the machine, contrasting with the black base color. "Fortuna" is written in capital lettering in the center of the sewing machine's top portion. The circular, metal balance wheel is visible on the backside of the device, which sits in front of a hand crank with a bulbous, wooden end. A rectangular, vertically spanning throat plate sits towards the machine's front end, encompassing small, engraved, informational text regarding needle and thread usage. A rectangular oscillating hook slide sits directly next to the throat plate, spanning horizontally. A rounded pin cushion sits on the wooden base, featuring a circular metal border and sepia-red cloth material encompassing the outer surface. On View
