DescriptionThis portion of a harness, known as a hames, is a tool attached to an animal harness to balance pulling force when carrying heavy loads. The tool features the foundation of a curved piece of wood with various metal rings attached to a flat metal piece, following the contour of the wood, and secured with visible nails. One end of the tool includes a smaller loop-like portion, while the other remains flat. Three rectangular carvings are visible just beneath the flat side, and significant splitting and discoloration are visible throughout the wood's surface, while the metal portion encompasses significant corrosion and rusting due to usage over time.On View
