DescriptionA student works with a tool on a sculpture during an art class at Los Alamos High School in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The girl holds the base of the sculpture and works to smooth the clay around the top of the sculpture. The artwork is the head of a woman. The girl is wearing a white shirt with a dark shift over it and her dark hair is styled around her face. She is looking intently at the area she is working with on the sculpture. A caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Students who are artistically inclined are encouraged to develop that facility in Los Alamos schools. Here, a member of a sculpture class puts finishing touches to a piece of work. Seventy-five percent of the high school graduating class of 1965 entered college."
