Description1. Sixty or so miles from Islta lies the small town of Socorro built on the site of an old Indian Pueblo. This is its Airfield, which today boasts a fine, new airport. The name, Socorro, is of Spanish origin & mena "succor" or "help," that was given abundantly by friendly Indians there to Spanish missionaries & explorers, weary from wandering over the desert.

2. As we near my nieces' home, we note the large "M" on the mt. top, indicating that a School of Mines is located here.

4. This is where we did stay; we enjoyed one of the apartments on Campus HIll. These apartments are usually reserved for (next card)
