DescriptionAn official scenic historic marker at Gran Quivira, New Mexico. Sign reads "Gran Quivira National Monument, 3/4 mile. Contains the ruins of the ancient Indian Pueble of Humanas and of the Franscian Mission which was built within the Pueblo by spanish padres about 1626. the Pueblo was abandoned between 1671 and 1680, probably because of fear inspired by the warlike plains Indians."
