DescriptionBrass French bed, owned by General and Governor Manuel Armijo of Albuquerque and Lemitar. Four post brass bed with lace canopy (most likely French), primarily suewed construction, iron bed frame painted green, canopy has a twisted top surmounted by an ornate and open-work brass "urn" shaped finial with a fruit and foliage motif, finial attaches to the canopy with large brass screw, canopy frame attaches to the posts below the finials, pomegranate-shaped and decorated with fruit and foliage motifs, post finials are hallow--last in two pieces braized together, bed posts etched in floral design, both the top and mid sections are hollow--cast and braized together with vase shapes decorated with flower and fruit motifs, head board and foot board constructed of brass tubing and are scalloped at the top and are decorated with ornate cast brass center panels in floral and fruit design, center panels are flaked on each side by a cast flower and are fastened to the tubing with brass screws, the top rails of head and foot boards are held to posts by brass yokes, bottom of head and foot boards are inserted into iron bed rail, bottom corners of posts are rounded shells over iron frame with horizontally oriented fruit and floral motif, ornamentation of feet is the same on the upper parts of the posts, and brass casters attached to posts with iron pivot.
