DescriptionDaniel Yocum holds a wedding photograph of his grandparents and looks toward the camera. He is wearing a polo shirt and his dark hair is combed away from his face. The photograh he is holding has a small torn piece out of the lower right corner. A caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Engineering student Daniel Yocum holds a 1920s wedding photo of his grandfather, Benino Garcia, lower left, wearing what Yocum believes is a traditional Jewish prayer shawl, or tallis. Yocum discovered his ancestors’ hidden past as he merged odd family customs with genealogical study and found a Jewish heritage of kosher food preparation, Friday night prayer and keeping the Sabbath."
