DescriptionYearbook of New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The cover reads: "New Mexico State / 1974 Swastika." It is dark blue with yellow lettering and a yellow sun at the bottom of the cover. In the early 1900s the yearbook was originally named "Swastika" because of the symbols connection to fortune and good luck in some southwest North American indigenous cultures. In 1983 the yearbook's name was changed to "The Phoenix" as voted on by students.
