DescriptionA mining rescue team arrives at the railroad depot in Dawson, New Mexico. A group of men and boys stand on the platform in front of two passenger rail cars. There are four men standing in the doorways of one of the passenger rail cars. Some of the men are wearing suits and hats, and some are wearing patched overalls and dress shirts. Dawson was a Phelps Dodge Corporation mining community and suffered one of the deadliest mining disasters in U.S. history in 1913 when dynamite exploded in Stag Canyon Mine #2, killing over 250 miners.On View
