Drew Shoe Company

Ohio, founded 1875
BiographyFounded by Irving Drew during the latter half of the nineteenth century, the Drew Shoe Company has developed expertise on the science behind therapeutic footwear for a century and a half. It has been dedicated to its mission of serving those with foot conditions and customers who prioritize comfort, support, and style in finding the best fit for them. Beginning with only a small-scale group of shoemakers and the market of creating women's welt shoes, they succeeded with implementing the Drew Shoe Company's reinforced arch known as the "Arch Rest," which became popularized due to its comfort, style, and overall quality. Following their rising success, Irving Drew joined George Selby, changing the company's name to Drew-Selby Company. After achievements were gained through the collaboration, both parties went their separate ways, and the Drew Shoe Company continued to grow before the effects of the Ohio River flood of 1937 forced the company to relocate to Lancaster, Ohio, from their original start in Portsmouth, Ohio. Still maintaining their headquarters in Lancaster, the company has created a legacy of being a leader in the orthopedic footwear industry. It is currently recognized for manufacturing shoes that prioritize comfort and fit for both men and women.
