BiographyThe Albuquerque Lasers were a co-ed volleyball team founded in November 1978 that folded July 11, 1980. It was part of the International Volleyball Association (1978-1980) as an expansion franchise. Wilt Chamberlain, the NBA Hall-of-Famer, played 3 matches for the Lasers in 1979. The Lasers played at Civic Auditorium and averaged 1,120 fans per match. The club folded midseason in July 1980, before the IVA also collapsed later that year. The Lasers had a 2 year record of 18 wins and 42 losses.
