La Raza Graphic Center

La Raza Silkscreen Center/La Raza Graphics Center was a printing studio in San Francisco's Mission District taht produced posters and silkscreen prints by Chicano and Latino artists. The Center produced posters for community-based organizations such as announcements for rallies, cultural and educational events, services, and benefits, as well as posters by artists exploring their own ideas of solidarity, affirmation, and resistance. The Center was founded in 1971 by La Raza Information Center to focus on creating posters and originally worked in an office on 23rd and Guerrero. In 1974, the Center moved to a larger space on 16th Street and started adding offset printing and typsetting due to a growing demand for posters. The Center also began offering silkscreen classes and training programs. By 1982 the Center switched its focus from silkscreen to offset printing and job training, then moved to a new space that provided gallery exhibition space on Valencia Street in 1983. The Center was folded into the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in 1995.
