BiographyBeatrice Gladys Lillie was a Canadian-born British actress, singer and comedic performer who was also known as Lady Peel and Bea Lillie. She won a Tony Award in 1953 for her revue An Evening with Beatrice Lillie. She married Robert Peel, son of Sir Robert Peel, 4th Baronet. Her husband’s family had little money and he was gambler with expensive taste so the couple was dependent on Lillie’s theatrical income. While the couple eventually separated, they never divored, and she was known as Lady Peel in private life.
