BiographyElmer Yazzie was born in Shiprock, New Mexico. He is a member of the Diné (Navajo) Nation. Yazzie spent his youth on the reservation attending Shiprock Elementary and Rehoboth Mission School. In 1976, He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan earning a B.A. in Art Education.
